We want to make our contribution to a sustainable and efficient future, that is why we conduct research and development. On our own and in collaboration with our innovation partners. We are active both in basic research and as part of funded projects. This network is complemented through our membership in important associations and alliances.
We have been working together with the Technical Universities of Braunschweig and Ilmenau on basic research for innovative switching concepts and material technology for many years.
We are contributing our expertise to several joint projects with the Jülich Research Centre - funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action:
HybSchaDC – Hybrid switchgear for efficient DC networks
The aim of this project is to develop a hybrid, extremely fast LVDC switch to be used in DC networks up to DC 1500 V.
DC busbars - Highly efficient, resource-saving DC busbars in production and manufacturing
The focus of this project is on the research of resource-saving and energy-efficient DC busbar systems to supply mobile industrial applications inside and outside buildings.

High voltages are the basis for increasing electrification in all areas. We are developing solutions for the tasks and requirements of the future. From electric mobility to telecommunication technology.
Focus on availability: Digitisation
Availability is the main focus in the automation and telecommunication technology. We offer networked devices, enable condition monitoring and combine this with minimum space requirements. This is how we pave the way for the industry and communication of the future.
Intelligent power distribution: Smart mobility
New concepts are required for the energy management of autonomous and smart vehicles. Whether on sea or on land - we develop solutions for future mobility.

Traditionally at the top: E-T-A is world market leader champion!
For the fifth time in a row, E-T-A Elektrotechnische Apparate GmbH is listed as the world market leader champion in the “circuit breakers for equipment protection and circuit protectors” segment in the current world market leader index of the St. Gallen university and of the Akademie Deutscher Weltmarktführer (academy of German world market leaders - ADWM).

The people behind the innovations: Our I&T department
Our Innovation & Technology department has guaranteed innovation and new ideas at E-T-A for many years. It works hand in hand with other departments to develop innovative products through technical expertise and pre-development. The I&T department creates a lasting link between research and practice through the collaboration of specialists from different areas.
The team is particularly successful in combining scientific principles and application-orientated industrial development with product-oriented technology development and innovative ideas.
Strong alliances – Count us in
Open DC Alliance (ODCA)
As a member of this working group of the ZVEI e.V. (German Association of the Electrical and Digital Industry), we support the social goal of a resource-saving and CO2-neutral world with the use of direct current technology.
Wasserstoffbündnis Bayern (Hydrogen Alliance Bavaria)
In this alliance, we are working to make Bavaria the leading location for the industrial production of hydrogen key components, to establish it as a technology leader in the field of hydrogen storage and logistics and to accelerate the development and expansion of the refuelling station infrastructure.
